Rwanda top seed Jean Claude Gasigwa has shifted attention on the Zambia Open set for November after failing to win the Uganda Rak Tie-Break Open last week in Kampala.
Gasigwa was knocked out in the semi-finals in straight sets by Uganda’s Duncan Mugabe.
"I have to put that disappointment behind me and focus on the Zambia Open, I have already started training as I prepare to make by debut (in the Zambia Open),” Gasigwa told Times Sport.
Rwanda’s top seed will face stiff challenge from the likes of Zambia’s top seed Edgar Kazembe, Duncan Mugabe and David Oringa of Uganda and youngster Ismail Changawa of Kenya.
The 18-year-old Changawa shocked Uganda’s top seed Mugabe in the final of the Uganda Rak Tie-Break Open on Saturday in a five-set thriller (3-2) to win the top cash prize of US$ 1000.
His sister, Shufa Changawa won the girls’ title after beating Asfa Nanyingi of Uganda in straight sets.
