Reigning world champion in the Men’s 800m-T46 category, Hermas Cliff Muvunyi has embarked on early preparations ahead of the next year’s All Africa Games slated to be held in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.
The 25-year-old athlete won Gold in Men’s 400m-T46 and silver in 800m-T46 category respectively at the 2011 All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique and next year, he will be eager to retain the honors.
He even went ahead to win gold in the men’s 800m-T46 at the sixth edition of the IPC World championships staged in Lyon, France last year.
Muvunyi who is regarded as one of the most prominent athletes in the country has kicked off his preparations with daily training at Amahoro stadium.
He told Times Sport that his dream is yet to come true as he believes a gold medal in the World Paralympics Games and an impressive show at the continental scene next year would uplift his morale and hope for similar success in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s Paralympics in 2016.
"I have already started training, early preparations are key to good performance. I am confident through my hard working I will be able to retain glory at the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville,” he stated.
