Today, Rwanda‘s St. Joseph football side lock horns with Uganda’s Old Kampala SS in the first semi-final of this year’s East African Secondary Schools’ Championships.

The hosts progressed to this stage after a resounding 4-1 win over Mehta (Uganda); their biggest win in the championships.

Rwanda’s other representatives Aspez had their semi-final hopes shattered after Mehta’s 4-1 victory over Tanzania’s Makonogo thereby ending Rwanda’s chances of fielding two teams in the semi-finals.

Aspez who needed Mehta to lose or draw against Makonogo were left frustrated when the former produced a thrilling 4-1 win over the later.

Defending champions Kitende also stayed on course of defending their title after a composed 2-0 win over Sudan’s Juba. Kitende will now face Mehta in the second semi-final.

In the girl’s category, it is an all Rwanda-Kenya semi-final affair.

St. Joseph takes on Wiyeta (Kenya) in the first semi-final while Aspez and Bishop Njenga (Kenya) clash in the other semi-final. It is the first time Rwanda has fielded two teams in the history of the championship.

In Rugby, it will be an all Kenya final this afternoon when title favorites Musingu take on Kakamega.

Ugandan sides Namilyango and Kisubi will contest for third place this morning.

Rwanda’s representative Remera Rukoma failed to win a game.

In volleyball, Rwanda’s CXR will contest with Kenya’s Malaba for the volleyball crown.
