Rwanda Professional golfer Emmanuel Ruterana has began intensive preparations as he seeks to impress at the grand KCB Golf Series Final in Mombasa.
The 71-Par Nyali Golf Club in Mombasa will host the KCB Advantage Banking East African Golf Tour Grand finale scheduled for September 23-26.
Ruterana, who finished 14th in the Tusker Malt Uganda Open Golf Championship early this month, is leaving nothing to chance in his bid to have a better showing in the regional finale.
He told Times Sport yesterday: "I am now in preparations at Kigali Golf Club with my mind on the KCB Golf Series Grand Finale where I want to stage a good performance.”
"Competing in the Uganda Open was a very good experience and I am working hard to improve on my performance in Kenya. My biggest challenge is that I have played few (competitive) tournaments which makes it difficult to overcome the top golfers in the region, especially Kenyans,” he noted.
Last month, Ruterana failed to break into the top ten as he returned 300 gross over 72 holes to finish 14th.
Uganda’s top-ranked Deo Akope overcame a strong field of 47 other professionals to win his third Uganda Open title.
Kenyan Dismas Ndiza scored 284 gross to take first runner-up gong, while Ugandan Denis Anguyo returned 286 to finish third.
A total of 55 professionals including; 33 Kenyans, 8 Ugandans, 9 Tanzanians, 1 Rwandan and 1 Ethiopian will take part in KCB Golf Series Grand Finale. Zambia is also expected to send one professional golfer to the tournament.
