AS KIGALI has completed the signing of strikers Ernest Sugira, Isaïe Songa and right back Hamdan Bariyanga, all on a two-year contract.
The trio was released by the reigning league champions APR FC early this week.
AS Kigali president Felix Masengesho said yesterday that the signings highlight the club’s vision of giving chance to young Rwandan players.
"It’s important to strengthen our team in preparation for a tough battle next season. We have signed three talented players and we believe they will help us to achieve our targets in the new season,” he told Saturday Sport
Masengesho added that the 2013 Peace Cup winners AS Kigali are keen to repeat last season’s third place finish or even go a step better in the forthcoming campaign, which starts next Saturday as City of Kigali-sponsored side face newcomers Sunrise FC.
"We finished in third position in the league last season, which is not bad but we want to do better this season,” added Masengesho.
Eric Nshimiyimana’s team have also signed goalie Bate Shamiru (Espoir FC), Jacques Kimenyi (AS Muhanga), Francois Hakizimana, Jean Pierre Maombi (Gicumibi FC), and Innocent Twagirayezu (Esperance FC).
