Imbuto Foundation has pumped Rwf10m into the National Volleyball League (Playoffs), scheduled to start this weekend under the theme ‘Fighting against Malaria’. Rwanda Volleyball Federation General Secretary Christian Hatumimana confirmed the development yesterday. He said the money will go towards organising both the men and women’s competitions. "We are happy to have secured the league sponsorship which will help our teams to increase the level of playing in a bid to continue developing the sport,” "We appreciate Imbuto Foundation for their support to the development of volleyball in the country. This sponsorship will play a major role in the development of the sport across the country,” added Hatumimana. The first matches of the Playoffs kick off in Ngoma District with APR Volleyball Club meeting Lycee de Nyanza while Rayon Sports takes on INATEK on Saturday. The second leg will then be held on Sunday between the four teams at Amahoro indoor stadium. The winners over the two-legged matches will face-off in the final next weekend. The losers will battle it out in the play-off classification match. In the women category, table leaders Rwanda Revenue Authority will be up against St Alloys, who finished fourth, while second-placed and defending champions APR will face Ruhango. Sammy Mulinge’s army side will be crowned league champions if they win the first two playoff games against Lycee de Nyanza regardless of what happens between Rayon Sports and INATEK. Rayon Sports’ hopes of winning the title depend on APR losing both games.
