The league fixtures were revised on request from the general assembly which met on Wednesday at the local body’s headquarters in Remera, Kigali City. In the new fixtures, the season begins on September 20 with three matches on card. Defending champions APR will face Musanze at Stade de Kigali; Isonga play away to Etincelles at Umuganda stadium while Espoir will host Mukura in Rusizi. On Sunday, four matches will be played with Gicumbi playing host to Police in Gicumbi; Amagaju travel to Kigali to face Rayon Sports at Stade de Kigali; Marines and SC Kiyovu renew rivalry at Mumena while new league entrants Sunrise will battle it out against AS Kigali in Rwamagana. The biggest match of the season which usually attracts many fans from the two rival sides APR and Rayon Sports will be played on October 26 at Amahoro stadium on day five. Last season, the military side beat the Nyanza-based side 1-0, thanks to Charles Tibingana Mwesigye’s strike. In the second leg Rayon hit APR 2-1. The military side’s new signing Djamar Mwiseneza and Abouba Sibomana scored the goals while Michel Ndahinduka scored the lone goal for the army side. The other key match will pit Police against AS Kigali on October 18 on day four. Coach Andre Cassa Mbungo will be against former employees AS Kigali who are now under former Amavubi coach Eric Nshimiyimana. On day six, the army side will play away to Police at Kicukiro, while Rayon Sports will take on Espoir at Stade de Kigali. On the seventh day, SC Kiyovu will battle it out against Etincelles at Mumena as APR faces Espoir at Stade de Kigali and a day later Police will face a tricky away test to Mukura at Kicukiro turf. On the eighth day of the season, Mukura will host APR at Stade de Kigali while Rayon Sports will take on SC Kiyovu in another derby match of the season at Amahoro stadium, all on November 23. The league will then be put on hold to pave way for the national team’s participation in the 2014 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup slated to be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from November 27-December 11. The league will then resume on December 13 with SC Kiyovu taking on Espoir in one of the biggest matches for the old giants at Mumena. Other key matches to watch include APR taking on SC Kiyovu on December 12 at Stade de Kigali; Police host Rayon Sports on January 3, 2015 at Amahoro stadium while Mukura and Rayon Sports on January 11, 2015 will conclude the first leg at Amahoro stadium. The second leg will then begin in a fortnight and climax on May 15.
