Eliya Mutabazi and Emmanuel Mutabazi stormed the semi-finals of the final MTN Beach Volleyball phase after last sunday’s  thrilling performance in Gisenyi.

The brothers who teamed up for the first time in the championship powered their way to the semi-finals after three successive straight set victories in the preliminary stage of the men’s category.

They were joined by the pairs of Claude Ibakwe and Dieudonne Singirankabo, Marshall Kwizera and Leo Fidele Mutesi, and Guillaume Irakarama and Vincent Dusabimana.

In the ladies category, usual suspects Emmelienne Uwineza and Jeannette Niyigena and Josie Mukeshangabire and Denise Mukarukundo stormed the semi-finals. They were joined by Yvette Igihozo and Denise. M and Marie Chantal Kabila and Monique Uwinema.

This Saturday, the veterans will take to the courts while the semi-finals and finals in the men’s and ladies’ category are scheduled for Sunday.

Uwineza and Niyigena will be chasing for a third phase win while Mukeshangabire and Mukarukundo who won the third phase will be gunning for their second.
