All of us know fruits are healthy, but do you actually know why fruits are good for your health? Besides tasting really good, fruits also give us nutrition. We all love eating apples, bananas, pineapple, oranges, mangoes and blueberries.
So, why are fruits good for us?
Fruits build our immunityââ¬Â¨
Aline Kwizera, a lover of fruits, says she carries fruits with her to work every day. "Fruits are a raw food and carry lots of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients which are essential for our body. They also strengthen our immunity towards diseases,” she says. She adds that we don’t only have to eat the sweet fruits but even others for the sake of our health.
Fruits nurse us back to health
Because of the nutrients that fruits contain, they are known to cure certain diseases. Vitamin C and Vitamin A, two well known and powerful vitamins help cure diseases and are found in plenty of fruits like oranges, lemons etcetera. Vitamin A in apples can reinforce the body resistance and destroy harmful bacteria that may have entered the body.
Fruits keep our weight in check
Another reason why fruits are good for our health is that they are low in calories and are beneficial to those who want to lose weight. One can always substitute fruits for any regular food they eat and as fruits consist mostly of water, they can make the stomach full and curb down the craving for more food. Moreover, they are free of bad-cholesterol, so you are eating healthy all the time.
Fruits perk up the body’s energy level
Mother of two, Marie Rose Isimbi, says fruits should be included in a child’s daily diet to match their very vigorous daily activities.
"As fruits contain natural sugars, our energy level are boosted thus making us more active. Besides, fruits are also known to be good for the skin and keep us looking younger and more attractive,” she says.
