Manoa Ishimwe, a well-known Rwandan top model based in the United States, has recently adopted the name Alik Bulan as he ventures into the realm of music.

In an interview with The New Times, Ishimwe explained the significance of this name change: "The change of name is a sign of a new beginning and a new phase in my music journey. When people listen to my music, I want them to hear the authentic sound of Africa, especially East Africa, because that's the sound of home to me."

"The name "Alik Bulan" draws its inspiration from "Alkebulan," the original name of Africa, signifying the Cradle of Mankind. Alik Bulan represents a reservoir of untapped potential and immense promise that is often misunderstood and misjudged, mirroring the story of Africa itself—an enigmatic continent filled with abundant opportunities and dreams,” he said.

Ishimwe already had a catalog of music before the rebranding, with his music characterised by a fusion of afrobeat, dancehall, and pop music. His tracks such as "I'm in Love," "All Night," "Tekawe," "Igirahino," and "Home" radiate with joyful, up-tempo summer vibes, intertwined with rhythms of traditional East African melodies.

Under his new identity, he has released a track titled "I'm Sorry," which has already garnered over 20,000 streams across various music streaming platforms.

Beyond his music endeavours, Ishimwe continues to shine as an editorial model, boasting collaborations with globally recognised brands like Puma, Nike, and others.
