Top three on stage 3

Team Rwanda rider Janvier Hadi finished last (113) on stage three of the ongoing Tour of Alberta on Friday, hence dropping to 110th in the general classification before yesterday’s stage four.

The 23-year-old, who is making his debut in the race for his Canadian team Garneau-Quebecor, had finished 105th on stage two on Thursday.

Stage three was won by Belgian Sep Vanmarcke, who rides for Belkin Pro Cycling team after using three hours, 12 minutes, 11 seconds and one microsecond. Hadi clocked three hour, 27 minutes and seven seconds.

The 156.9-km stage three ran from Wetaskiwin to Edmonton. The average time per rider was 3.12’11” and the average speed was 48.984 km/h.

In general classification, Netherlands’ Tom Dumoulin, who won stage one Time trialon Tuesday and stage two on Wednesday, still holds the yellow jersey ahead of Ruben Zepuntke (Germany) and Ramunas Navardauskas (Lithuania) who are second and third respectively. Hadi is in 110th position overall.

The second edition of the six-day international competition will climax today with stage five, which is a circuit race to be held in Edmonton. By press time, stage four from Edmonton to Strathcona County was yet to get underway.
