To be opened by President Kagame

Rwanda International Trade Fair (RITF) organised by the Private Sector Federation (PSF) is to open today, at the Gikondo exhibition ground.

The 11th Trade Fair to be opened by President Paul Kagame is a platform for making deals, contacts and networking for both exhibitors and visitors alike.

According to a statement signed by the PSF Secretary General, Emmanuel Hategeka, the Expo will be a forum for creating synergy of resources, technologies and products for the country, the sub regional and regional communities.

He said this year’s Expo is expected to hit record attendance, following the intervention of regional and international exhibitors and persuasive campaigns.

Hategeka also added that a number of manufacturers from the East African Community (EAC); Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Burundi are all expected to attend along others such as the embassies to Rwanda.

Sources from PSF revealed that the Expo has so far attracted the interest of over 600 local and foreign exhibitors, 150 of whom have reserved stands. However, by press time, the number of exhibitors who had confirmed could not be ascertained.

Annually, PSF comes up with something new and innovative to give the exhibitors the best moment in showcasing their products and services and show-goers a moment to cherish in their lifetime.

In 2007, the RITF attracted a total 323 exhibitors, 227 local companies and 96 international companies from nine countries including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Ghana, Egypt, Ethiopia, Rwanda and India.

Participants in the fair were able to promote their products and services, establish new contacts interact and network. There were also 13,000 recorded visitors daily from the entire region.
