VETERAN rally driver Christakis Fitidis will represent Rwanda in the 62nd KCB Safari Rally which is also the seventh round on the FIA-Africa Rally Championship calendar. Fitidis is navigated by Eric Nzamwita.
The event scheduled for September 12-14, has attracted 62 drivers including debutant Gary Chaynes of Ivory Coast and 2012 African Rally Champion Mohamed Essa of Zambia.
Chaynes currently tops the ARC standings with 101 points followed by Mohammed Essa (93) and Jaspreet Chatthe (58).
Other ARC registered drivers like Jas Mangat and Manvir Baryran could spoil the points scoring party by taking points away from the top ARC contenders.
Rwanda’s Giancarlo Davite, who is navigated by Sylvia Vindevogel in the Mitsubishi Evo X, is ranked fourth with 39 points on the continent. He opted out of the event after blowing his title hopes in the past two rounds.
If the ARC title winner is not decided in Kenya, Chaynes and Essa will have to take their battles for the crown to Madagascar for the final round set for November 7-9.
