Amavubi players will each receive US$5,500 (approx. Rwf3.85m) in bonus for reaching the group stages of 2015 Afcon final round qualifiers despite being disqualified by Confederation of African Football ( Caf).
This was revealed by the Rwanda Football Federation (Ferwafa) secretary general Olivier Mulindahabi on Sunday.
Mulindahabi said all the players will receive the money by the end of tomorrow, September 3.
"We will give them their money soon. It is in the process and nothing has changed, they will get all their money by September 3,” Mulindahabi said.
According to Mulindahabi each player will get US$3,000 (about Rwf2.1m) for beating Congo Brazzaville 2-0 in the return leg of the second round of qualifiers and US$1500 (approx. Rwf1.05m) each for the 1-0 win against Gabon in an international friendly in the build-up to the Congo qualifier.
Rwanda was on August 17, disqualified from the competition by the Organising Committee of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations on grounds that they used an ineligible player; striker Dady Birori, who also goes by the name Agiti Tady Etakiama at his Kinshasa-based club AS Vita.
Ferwafa made an appeal, which was rejected by Caf’s Appeals Board on Saturday. Birori has since been expelled from Amavubi and blacklisted never to play in Rwanda.
