Police won despite missing their star talisman Gilbert Mutuyimana, who was with APR Handball Club at the just concluded regional Military games in Zanzibar where he scooped the player of the tournament award.
Jean Baptiste Habimana scored the game high ten goals for Police and Albert Sibomana added four goals, while Janvier Mukinzimana scored seven goals for Nyakabanda.
Table leaders, Police, who already have three trophies this season namely; Labour Day, Genocide memorial and Liberation day tournaments, will play Groupe Scolaire St Alloys when the league resumes on September 3. Police have 33 points from 11 games, three points ahead of defending champions Gicumbi, who have played three games less.
St Alloys are in sixth place on the nine-team table standing with 27 points from 10 games.
