POLICE Football Club officials have again told rivals Rayon Sports that striker Jerome Sina is not for sale at any price.
The club spokesperson CIP Jean de Dieu Mayira told Sunday Sport that Sina is still contracted with the Cops side after signing a two-year deal in January and will stay at the club until 2016.
Mayira said: "We know they (Rayon Sports) have expressed interest in the player but the player is still under contract with Police FC. He is still our player and we are not planning to sell him.”
Sina played for Rayon Sports for two seasons before heading to DR Congo’s FC Lupopo in 2013 without the club’s permission, something that had him suspended indefinitely by the Nyanza-based side.
At the start of the 2013/14 Turbo King Football league season, Sina resurfaced claiming that his contract with Rayon Sports had expired and was on the verge of joining AS Muhanga as a free agent before Police joined in the race to sign him.
However, Rayon Sports held onto him claiming that the player still had unfinished business with them until the local football governing body, Ferwafa, ruled in Police’s favour.
The 25-year old striker played a key role for Andre Cassa Mbungo’s Police side as they finished last season in third position before losing the Peace Cup title to rivals APR.
This month, he helped the team to finish third in the just concluded Cecafa Kagame Cup tournament after edging Uganda’s KCCA to pocket $10,000.
With new additions, including; strikers Mbaraga Jimmy, Eric Ngendahimana, defender Mwemere Ngirinshuti, goalie Marcel Nzarora and injured du of Imran Nshimiyimana and Innocent Habyarimana to recover, Police are seen as genuine contenders for the league title next season, which is set to get underway on September 20.
