RWANDANS will be able to acquire Scania buses and heavy duty trucks from  Kigali.

Skenia Motors, franchise holders for Scania in the region has finally opened a branch to supply Scania buses and trucks, Higer buses and Yuejin trucks both in Rwanda and the Great Lake region.

The Rwandan branch located on Plot 364 Kicukiro road is estimated to have cost $2 million (Frw1.1 billion).

"Scania is the ultimate choice to meet fleet owners’ standards, with the new models providing the most modern and reliable choice of chassis, while permitting a wide variety of body styles,” says the Sales and Marketing Manager, Phillip Cheruyiot.

Scania is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of trucks and buses.

This is another additional investor among the many in the transport sector targeting the Rwandan market.

The investors are attracted to Rwandas partly because the transport sector is rated as one of the fast growing in the region.

They also has has the best network of roads linking rural and urban areas.

According to the African Development Bank research, the communally built ‘stone roads’ linking communities to major roads and highways are a turning point of Rwanda’s transport sector.
