Tearfund is an Evangelical Christian Relief and Development organisation founded more than forty years ago, by churches in the United Kingdom. Over the years, Tearfund has been working with partners in more fifty countries to help communities emerge out of poverty as well as responding to emergencies and disasters around the world.
For the last twenty years, Tearfund has worked with Rwandan partners and churches in emergency and disaster response, post emergency reconstruction and rehabilitation as well as in long term engagements towards poverty eradication.
Our approach focuses on community empowerment, with a specific emphasis on changing the mind-sets, allowing communities to think through their problems and constraining factors and prioritising their actions using locally available resources.
Our work seeks to instil a strong sense of self-reliance and a positive attitude towards work and local opportunities.
