A car accident occurred on Tuesday, September 26, along the Kigali-Rwamagana highway at Bambino in Nyagahinga Cell, Rusororo Sector in Gasabo District during the morning hours, temporarily disrupting traffic in the area. The accident involved a tanker truck transporting gas, which had blocked the road.

All injured parties have been transported to hospitals for medical care. In response to the accident, Rwanda National Police temporarily closed the affected section of the Kigali-Rwamagana highway, diverting traffic to alternative routes.
"Motorists are advised to utilise the Masaka-Kabuga road and the Umusambi-Intare Arena-Mulindi road while efforts to clear the accident scene are underway,” Irere said.
Irere also reassured the public regarding the safety of the gas carried by the tanker truck, explaining that the gas would naturally dissipate into the air over time. He emphasised that there would be no harmful effects on residents in the area due to the accident.
"As of now, the situation has returned to normal, and there are no lingering concerns about any fire hazards or respiratory issues arising from the accident."
As always, we strongly emphasise the importance of drivers adhering to traffic regulations, as accidents of this nature often lead to loss of life. We urge all drivers to maintain vigilance while on the road, and rest assured that the police will continue their efforts to minimise road accidents," Irere said.
