Communities embrace hygiene, improve health and productivity
The Government of Rwanda through the Ministry of Health launched the Community Based Environmental Health Promotion Program (CBEHPP) on 17th December 2009. The purpose of the program was to reduce by 2012 the national disease burden at the time and contribute to poverty reduction.

The Government of Rwanda through the Ministry of Health launched the Community Based Environmental Health Promotion Program (CBEHPP) on 17th December 2009. The purpose of the program was to reduce by 2012 the national disease burden at the time and contribute to poverty reduction.
According to Joseph Katabarwa the head of the Environmental Health Desk at the Ministry of Health, CBEHPP is in line with the country’s vision 2020 where one of the objectives is to ensure that all households should have mastered and practice hygiene and proper waste disposal by 2020.
