What is the conformity assessment scheme about and how does it relates with consumer protection?
Basically, whenever we talk of consumer protection through conformity assessment, we are talking about quality inspection, laboratory testing, metrology and product certification.
Conformity assessment involves checking for conformity to the applicable standards; the process of verifying a product or system and whether it complies with the applicable standards. These activities are geared toward ensuring that products and services are safe, thus it acts as a benchmark for consumer protection.
