Espoir are just one win away from retaining the men’s basketball playoffs title following their 86-66 win against CSK in Game 2 on Saturday at Amahoro indoor stadium.

Game 3 is set for this afternoon at the same venue and if the Nyamirambo-based team wins, something that only the bravest can bet against, they will be crowned champions once again. It will be their third consecutive double triumph, after they also retained the regular season league title.

Patrick Buzangu of CSK BC scored the game high 28 points and his younger brother Mike Buzangu added 15 points. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough as Jean Bahufite’s unbeaten Espoir side continued their dominance.

Small forward Lionel Hakizimana lead Espoir’s scoring chart with 15 points and his team captain Aristide Mugabe added 10 points.

In the women’s category, Ubumwe beat Rwanda Allied Peace for Progress (RAPP) 64-58 in Game 2.

Priscilla Doudou of Ubumwe scored the game high 30 points and was well supported by Alice Muhongerwa, who added 15 points for the league champions.
