Pay television company StarTimes users with MTN lines will now be able to pay subscription fees using the telecom firm’s mobile money service as the two companies look to improve customer experience.
Speaking during the launch of the partnership at the StarTimes head offices in Kimihurura, Kigali, on Thursday, Norman Munyampundu, the MTN business general manager, said the deal will provide subscribers convenient payment solutions.
The development comes about four months after MTN partnered with Tele10 to enable customers pay their DStv, Canal+ and GOtv subscriptions through MTN mobile money service.
"StarTimes is happy to partner with MTN to ease the subscription process for our clients,” said Hussein Kamanzi, the StarTimes marketing and sales director.
Munyampundu said there are currently over two million registered mobile money users, adding that this is a great opportunity for StarTimes to leverage the service and increase its client base.
Over Rwf87 billion was transacted through the MTN mobile money service between January and June this year, according to the telecom firm.
