RWANDA national junior handball men and women’s teams depart for Kampala, Uganda today ahead of the U-20 IHF/CAHB Zone Five B Challenge Cup set for August 15-22.
The winners in both categories will earn qualification for the Africa Junior Championships 2015, even as host country and dates have not yet been confirmed.
The week-long competition will attract six nations, namely; Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and hosts Uganda.
Rwanda will be making its fifth appearance.
The boys’ team head coach Antoine Ntabanganyimana said their target is to win the tournament and qualify for the continental championships.
He told Times Sport that the players are in good spirit and determined to return home with the Challenge trophy.
Men’s team:
Jackson Uwimana (Police HC), Samuel Bananimana (ES Kigoma), Zachée Tuyishime (College de Gisenyi), Martin Nshutiyimana (ES Kigoma), Jean Baptiste Habimana (Police HC), Innocent Kwizera (Gicumbi), Jean Nepomscene Niyishaka (GS St Aloys), Emmanuel Murwanashyaka of ES Kigoma.
Others are: Emile Giraneza (Gicumbi), Modetse Ifashwanayo (Gicumbi), Jean Paul Muhawenimana (ES Kigoma), Alexis Nshimiyimana (ES Kigoma), Shaffy Niyonkuru (ES Kigoma) and Haruna Bizimana of Police Handball Club.
Girls’ team:
Bernadette Niyonizera, Ester Dushimimana, Bernadette Mukandahimana, Pascasie Mukamana, Marie Niyonsenga, Sarah Manizabayo, Rose Ibyishaka, Marie Rose Twunvikane.
