Editor,
I want to react to the article by Joseph Rwagatare entitled ‘God is alive and well in Rwanda’ (published Tuesday August 12)
As an atheist, I am glad to read this piece. We should not forget that Rwanda is constitutionally a secular state and that people should keep their belief in private or in worship centres, but not in public places.

Can Mr. Rwagatare explain exactly how Rwanda can be a secular country when as the article shows its dedication to Christ the King has never been revoked?
Are we suggesting Christian states are by definition secular or has post-colonial Rwanda abandoned its colonial-era introduced religions on the quiet, so as not to upset the religious masses?
