RWANDA is plotting a renewed hunt for medals and trophies at the East African Post-Primary, FEASSA Games due in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania following dismal performances in the previous two editions.

This year’s FEASSA Games get underway on August 21 through August 31.

Rwanda last won a title in the regional secondary schools tournament in 2011 in Nakuru, Kenya when both the boys and girls handball teams returned home with titles.

Since then no Rwandan team has won a trophy – both during the 2012 Games in Bujumbura, Burundi, and the 2013 edition in Lira, Uganda.

This time round, Rwandan teams will be out to reclaim what have been taken from them in the recent years, according to Rwanda school sports federation (RSSF) officials.

"I’m confident we are going to end title drought in the regional school games show, we won nothing in the last two editions but now is our time,” Aaron Rurangirwa, RSSF technical director told Times Sport on Friday.

"Our teams have been training for the last two weeks and preparations are still on-going until August 20,” he added.

The country will be represented by 20 teams in nine different sports disciplines, namely football, volleyball, basketball, handball, netball, rugby, athletics, tennis and table tennis.

 Athletics will have two teams, one for boys and another for girls, each with 20 runners. In tennis, boys’ and girls’ teams are made up of two players each, while two table tennis (Ping Pongo) teams comprise three players each.
