Editor,
Refer to Paul Ntambara’s article, "Thou shalt not sell alcohol to teenagers” (The New Times, August 9). Fighting this scourge is a collective responsibility. It is more of a family responsibility.
I have witnessed a two-year-old being given alcohol as both parents laughed on her second birthday party. How would you expect her to grow up and do something different?
The picture is the same both in village and in urban areas. Don’t we attend wedding receptions and quietly watch teenagers take alcohol?
It won’t be logical to criminalise alcohol for underage children at bars and at the same time encourage it in our own homes.
