Collins Mwai caught up with him for insights on his dress sense. Below are excerpts:
For most people, your dress sense is hard to describe in one word, what bracket does it fall under?
Mostly casual with a touch of Africa here and there, though I don’t mind the occasional suit depending on the ocassion.
The season is getting hotter, what is the one item that you are stocking up?
Definitely open shoes like African sandals.
What style or clothing items do you think should be avoided at the moment?
Anything black! I love black but black doesn’t love heat.
Where do you shop for clothes?
Anywhere from the streets of Nyamirambo, Nyabugogo market, to the fancy shops downtown with a preference of course for those that sell African clothes and accessories.
By any chance would you wear second hand clothes?
Don’t mind them if they are of good quality and unique in style.
Who do you look up fashion-wise?
No one. As an artist, I go with the flow and try to have my own style.
What do you consider when shopping for clothes?
My physique, my personality and the occasion I want to wear the clothes at.
Do you go for brands or do you look out for specific features of clothing items?
I am not a brand guy. If it looks good and fits my mood at the moment, I go for it.
Boxers or briefs?
Boxers all the way!
What’s your favourite fashion accessory?
Definitely my Lion Rings!
What is your favourite clothing item on a girl?
A nice pair of good old blue jeans!
What’s your favourite scent?
Polo Sport by Ralph Lauren.
What clothing items or accessories do you think every guy should have?
A nice necklace, be it Gold, Silver or ethnic. Nothing too fancy though, nobody likes a show off!
