Dr. Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamariya, born 13 March 1970 in Kigali, is the Minister of Gender and Family Promotion.

The first thing you do in the morning….

I request God to protect and guide me throughout the day and to make me successful in whatever I do. Usually I wake up at 5:30.

What makes your day?

When I have achieved all my goals.

Your favourite meal…

Beetroot with rice.

Where did you grow up?

In Remera, one of Kigali’s suburbs.

Your dream city?

I have never dreamt of being outside Kigali.

Your greatest fear?

Death.

All your money goes on...

Mostly on family matters.

You’re no good at…

Telling lies.

What keeps you awake at night?

When any of my children are sick.

What does love mean to you?

Life.

What is your favorite word?

Oh my God!

Your most unappealing habit…

Being straight forward. I really don’t know how to pretend, and if I’m not happy about anything I will definitely show it.

Your restaurant/bar in Kigali…

I don’t attend any restaurant or bar.

What is the closest you have come to death?

It was in 1995, when I was traveling in a ship from Moscow to Sweden. The ship sunk and I saw death close to me. Rescuers immediately arrived; but by God we survived.

What do you intend to be in ten year’s time?

I will probably be a professor.

How do you relax?

When I’m out of the office somewhere having fun with my family.

When did you last cry, and why?

I can’t recall the exact year, probably 2005 or 2006, when I took my child to  hospital and the nurse who was on duty gave her an overdose. The child became puzzled and I didn’t know what to do.

Your favourite item of clothing…

Trousers suits.

What was your favourite childhood game?

In primary, I used to play football. But in secondary I switched to volleyball.

To whom would you wish to say sorry, and why?

To whomever I might have offended in one way or another.
