Qatar Airways scooped three awards, including the world’s Best Business Class accolade, which it won for the third time and second year in a row.
The airlines also won in two other categories; Best Airline in the Middle East, which it won for the eighth time, and the Best Business Class Airline Lounge.
This was during the annual Skytrax 2013 World Airline Awards in Paris, France last month.
Commenting on the achievement, Qatar Airways chief executive officer His Excellency Akbar Al Baker said the awards further cement the airline’s reputation as the world’s undisputed five-star carrier. He noted that the accolades were a result of the airline’s dynamic growth in recent years.
"Qatar Airways is focused on providing quality passenger service and products. We are proud that Skytrax recognised the airline, our people and products through these awards. We strive to set the highest standards in the global airline industry and our young fleet helps us deliver the finest five-star service in the sky,” Al Baker said in a media statement.
The wards are based on a survey of 18.85 million global airline passengers, who voted for their favourite travel experiences between August, 2013 and May, 2014.
Airline passengers from over 160 countries participated in the survey, which covered 245 airlines worldwide. Skytrax runs one of the most comprehensive customer satisfaction surveys in the airline industry.
