A Kigali man identified as Dieudonne Nsengiyumva, who set himself on fire yesterday, is fighting for his life at the Central University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK), where he was rushed for treatment.
A Kigali man identified as Dieudonne Nsengiyumva, who set himself on fire yesterday, is fighting for his life at the Central University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK), where he was rushed for treatment.
Nsengiyumva reportedly set himself on fire at about 11:30 am at a place commonly known as Peage in Muhima Sector, Nyarugenge District.
He was rescued by Police and rushed to the hospital.
Police said investigations are ongoing to find out what prompted the man’s actions.
Though he is still unconscious, he is now stable, Police said in a statement last evening.
"Nsengiyumva was found with pellets of cannabis and preliminary investigations indicate that he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.”
Police appealed to the general public to complement ongoing investigations by providing information related to the victim.
