The City of Kigali side qualified for the final after beating Rubavu 2-0 in the semi-finals on Sunday at Ferwafa ground thanks to strikes from 13-year-old Liberta Nibagwire and Duja Umwaliwase. In another semifinal, Mutara Academy of Muhanga District thrashed Kayonza 3-0.

Umwaliwase of AS Kigali was the star of the day, as she also scored a brace in a 3-0 victory over Nyanza in quarter-finals in the morning.

"I’m proud of my girls; they are determined to win this title. We are going to prepare as well as we possibly can for the final,” AS Kigali coach Grace Nyinawumuntu said.

The finals of the two-month long Airtel Rwanda-sponsored competition in both boys’ and girls’ categories are scheduled for this coming weekend of August 1 to 3 at Umuganda stadium, Rubavu District in the Western Province.

Gatsibo and Kayonza will meet in the boys’ final after brushing aside Kigali city’s Top Guys and Play for Hope Academy respectively in the semi-final.
