BELGIAN FRANCOIS LOSCIUTO has heaped praises on his players following the club’s 2-0 win over DC Virunga from DR Congo in Sunday’s friendly match held at Kigali Regional Stadium.
Midfielder Aphrodis ‘Kanombe’ Hategekimana and Ugandan-born skipper Samsom Jakeshi helped Rayon Sports edge past DC Virunga.
This match was a golden opportunity for Losciuto who is preparing his team ahead of next week’s Cecafa Kagame Cup.
Speaking to the press, Losciuto said, "My boys did exactly what I told them to do. I am happy for the win. However, we still have a lot of work to do before Cecafa.”
Rayon Sports are drawn in pool A, alongside 2012 champions Young Africans of Tanzania, Coffee of Ethiopia, Atlabara of South Sudan and KMKM of Zanzibar.
Nyanza-based hopefuls Rayon will open the tournament with Young Africans of Tanzania on August 8 before taking on Ethiopia’s Coffee on August 10. They will battle it out against KMKM of Zanzibar on August 14 before winding up the group stage matches against Atlabara on August 16.
This year’s tournament has attracted a record 14 clubs and comes to an end on August 24th. It will be beamed live by Supersport, one of this year’s Cecafa partners.
All teams are required to arrive in Kigali on August 5, three days before the tournament starts.
