I wish to react to the article, "Habineza’s reappointment is a sigh of relief” (The New Times, July 26). It seems the task ahead of Amb. Habineza is a whole big mountain to climb, if not insurmountable. To start with, there is a lot that needs to be put right.

The writer pointed quickly to the issue of foreign coaches, but I don't know whether that is the problem. He even pointed out that, during the last three years Habineza has been in Nigeria, the country has produced some great footballers...really in three years?

We all know that the fellows mentioned have been in the Nigerian football history for decades. Perhaps what the writer should have mentioned is that Habineza may also need to work with known footballers in Rwanda to make a difference.

Amb. Habineza has been in the sports ministry before and despite the writer’s praise in his article, I don't really remember any significant achievement by our sports teams when he was in charge.

Well, probably his second coming could be for the better but that remains to be seen.

Truly, we need a performance from our sportsmen and women and if this is to happen under Joe's stewardship, then Rwandans will definitely approve of the good man.
