Rwandan small forward Cedric Juru and point guard Joseph Nshimiye have been selected for the FIBA Africa Youth Camp which is underway in Bamako, Mali.
The three-day camp, which began Wednesday September 20 and closes Friday, September 22, is an important initiative which is part of FIBA Africa’s flagship event for training and development aimed at preparing young players for rigours of future competitions.
Since its inception in 2021, the Youth Camp has reached 80 percent of the African countries, impacting 43 nations.

Globally, 90 girls and 150 boys have participated in various Youth Camps over the past two editions.
Juru and Nshimiye, both 16, recently played together for Rwanda the U16 FIBA Africa championships that took place in Monastir, Tunisia in July.
Nshimiye averaged 13.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game at the competition while Juru averaged 8.7 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists in the process.
They are among 55 young basketball players from more than 30 countries attending the camp. They will meet with 15 coaches during the three-day camp.

On the final day of the camp, an All-Star Game will see the best players battle each other before the closing ceremony brings an end to the camp.
Renowned basketball figures such as Rwanda coach Cheikh Sarr, NBA Africa Ambassador Astou N'Diaye; former Ivorian national team player Christelle Ngarsanet; Robert Pack, who played in the NBA for 13 seasons before becoming the head coach of Rwanda Energy Group (REG) during the 2022 BAL season and NBA legend Olumide Oyedeji are part of the line-up of instructors for different workshops at the camp.
