Rwandan firm to distribute Acer computer

BL Technics and Security, a local electronic company has landed a partnership deal with Acer Computers, a multinational electronic company. Acer is a Taiwanese multinational electronics manufacturer that owns the largest franchised computer retail chain in Taipei, Taiwan. In an interview with, Benjamin Nyamwasa, the General Manager of BL Technics & Security said that Acer computers appointed his company August 15, 2008 as the distributor of Acer’s entire products in Rwanda. The deal aims to give his company the right to be the sole Acer computers distribution agent in Rwanda.

BL Technics and Security, a local electronic company has landed a partnership deal with Acer Computers, a multinational electronic company.

Acer is a Taiwanese multinational electronics manufacturer that owns the largest franchised computer retail chain in Taipei, Taiwan.

In an interview with, Benjamin Nyamwasa, the General Manager of BL Technics & Security said that Acer computers appointed his company August 15, 2008 as the distributor of Acer’s entire products in Rwanda. The deal aims to give his company the right to be the sole Acer computers distribution agent in Rwanda.

"This is because the company [BL Technics] is very familiar with IT distribution business in Rwanda,” he explained.

Nyamwasa also said that taking service providers centre to rural areas is the most reliable channel for the government to attain its goal of disseminating ICT to all citizens in the country.

After picking interest to support one child one computer project, he added that his company intends to build training centres in every district to train different people including grassroot leaders in districts.

Nyamwasa also said that his company intends to create data base in different parts in the country.

"We want to significantly build and strengthen our company’s presence in Rwanda, this partnership will help us serve the Rwandese customers better and will give them more choice,” Shamir Jaffer, Sales Manager, East and Central Africa, who is in the country for a business visit added.

Acer is the third largest computer manufacturer in the world (by sales) after HP and Dell Inc. with its product lineup in desktop and mobile PCs (laptops),as well as personal digital assistants (PDAs), servers and storage, displays, peripherals, and e-business services for business, government, education, and home users.

Acer is the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region leader in the notebook sector, holding 18 per cent market share in Q1 2005.
