THE COUNCIL of East and Central Africa Football Association (Cecafa) has revealed plans to introduce a new tournament - Cecafa Club Champions League-that will see the region’s top clubs battle for the top prize.
The Cecafa General Secretary Nicholas Musonye confirmed the development on Tuesday.
"This is a long term plan, it cannot be implemented today or next year, we need at least two years. We have to put logistics in place. It also requires a lot of resources and structures that must be put in place. We also have to look for sponsorship,” Musonye said on Tuesday in Nairobi.
Cecafa already runs the Senior Challenge Cup, Kagame Cup and the recently launched Nile Basin tournament.
