Police Senior Command and Staff course students on study tour this week visited Kenya Police College (KPC) in Kiganjo in Nyeri county and Del Monte Kenya Limited, a pineapple processing plant.

The visit by 29 Police officers from nine regional countries is part of the one year course at the Musanze-based National Police College (NPC), which offers strategic leadership and master’s programme in Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation.

At KPC, the delegation was received by the Deputy Commandant, DCP Marcus J. Ocholla and the School staff.

DCP Ocholla thanked the delegation for visiting KPC and underscored the need for stronger cooperation through training.

The students led by CP Christophe Bizimungu, the Commandant of NPC, were briefed on the history of the College, its vision, mission and core values and courses offered.

They also held discussions on ways of fostering peace and unity among African countries through socio-economic and Police co-operation, strengthening bilateral and multi-lateral police cooperation, training and exchange of information and expertise.   

At Del Monte plant, the officers were briefed on how it has contributed to human security development and Kenya's economy in general, including offering jobs to 6000 Kenyans.

"This gave students an insight that security is not only about absence of war; it covers all aspects of human security, including socio-economic welfare and development," CP Bizimungu said.

The week-long study tour started on Monday.
