Prime Minister Anastase Murekezi yesterday assumed office, pledging to take on his new role with dedication.
"I would like to thank the President for entrusting me with this important position. It gives me yet another opportunity to serve my country with commitment and diligence,” he said at the handover ceremony at the Prime Minister’s Office last evening.
He lauded Pierre-Damien Habumuremyi, the outgoing prime minister, for doing a commendable job during his tenure.
Habumuremyi also thanked the appointing authority for giving him an opportunity to serve the country in premier’s capacity, noting that it gave him positive life time lessons.
He congratulated his successor, but also warned that a huge task lay ahead.
"This is a challenging task, so you have to work with dedication so as to meet the expectations of citizens.”
Habumuremyi commended the staff at the Prime Minister’s Office for their dedication and support during his tenure and asked them to show the same spirit to his successor.
He lauded the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) and its leadership for the wise counsel, that was extended to him during his time as Premier.
