"I&039;ve been hearing so much about this place, and while I've had a few invitations before, this is the first time it's all coming together. Despite the rainy welcome, I'm thrilled to finally be here. I may not have seen much yet, but I can already sense the warm hospitality of the people, which makes me feel right at home. I know my music resonates with audiences here, especially 'Se Pa Pou Dat.' The song continues to receive love and recognition, not only in the States but also in Haiti and Rwanda,” he said.
When asked if he was acquainted with Rwandan music, Alan Cavé responded, "I wouldn't know if it's exclusively Rwandan, but I listen to a wide range of African music." He then went on to mention Rwandan musician Christopher, acknowledging a song from him he admires.
Regarding potential collaborations with Rwandan musicians, he said: "Yeah, definitely. I hope that before I leave, someone can contact me for a collab."
Alan Cavé has more than music on his mind during his visit. He's eager to explore the landscapes, cuisine, and cultural attractions that Rwanda offers. "I want to know why the country is known as the "Land of a Thousand Hills,” he said.
When asked about what fans can anticipate at the Friday show, he responded: "Well, I think many of you are already familiar with the 'Se Pa Pou Dat' album, and I'll be performing many songs from it." He went on to add, "I'll also include some tracks from my time with Zin, the band I was part of before the massive success of 'Se Pa Pou Dat.' These Zin songs have a lot of energy and hype, so expect an exciting performance."
"And this guy here is my producer (Prod Cheff Lonchér). He has a great sound. We’re actually working together on my next album. So, I'm going to be playing some of the songs on the upcoming album as well. It's going to be nice. It's going to be different. A nice fusion. A little bit of everything," Alan Cavé said.
Alan Cavé was invited to Rwanda as part of Africa A La Mode Fashion Show, an event aimed at boosting the Rwandan fashion industry on the international stage. Karen Uwera, co-founder of Africa A la Mode and Chairperson of the Rwanda Fashion Designers Association, shared her belief in the event's potential to enhance the skills of fashion designers, models, and photographers through training and masterclasses conducted by experts from various countries including the United States, Italy, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Haiti.
The fashion show will take place on Thursday, September 21, at Crown Conference Hall Nyarutarama, with entrance fees ranging from Rwf20,000 to Rwf30,000. Alan Cavé's concert is scheduled for Friday, September 22 at the same venue, and ticket prices vary from Rwf10,000 to Rwf40,000.
