TOP GUYS football academy team is ready to fight for the football title of the second edition of the annual Airtel rising stars competition.
The Kicukiro district-based Top guys’ team has been undergoing intensive preparations for a week. They believe that with hard work and focus they will battle all the way through to the final and clinch the title according to academy president Jean Bosco Ndagijimana.
Talking to Times Sport yesterday, Ndagijimana said, "We are ready to battle it out with any opponent at this stage, for the last ten days we have been undergoing intensive preparations and our boys have promised to deliver the best performance,”
"We know we are solid enough to win the tournament but we won’t let overconfidence destroy everything we have worked for since the beginning of the competition, every match we play is considered as a final to us,” he noted.
The U17 Top Guys team finished third last year in the inaugural edition of the two-month long Airtel Rwanda-sponsored competition. Les Lionceaux of Rubavu were 2013 champions.
In boys’ category, other semi-finalist teams are Football for Hope Academy also representing Kigali, Gatsibo Academy and Kayonza Training Center from Eastern Province.
The competition has reached the last four in both male and female categories and will be played this weekend with boys playing on Saturday while girls play on Sunday.
Telecommunications Company, Airtel Rwanda has sponsored the youth competition to the tune of Rwf100 million.
