THE NATIONAL chess team is ready to display good performance in this year’s Olympiad scheduled for Tromso, Norway from August 1-15.

The Rwanda Chess Federation chief Kevin Ganza said yesterday that basing on the preparations the national team has been undergoing; he has hope that Rwanda will register an impressive performance in this year’s edition. 

"We believe the national team will make promising performances in Norway. They are ready for the contest,” added Ganza. 

The national team is comprised of Godfrey Kabera, Alex Ruzigura, Murara Maxence, Eugine Kagabo Allain Niyibizi in the men’s category while the women team includes Umuhoza Royala, Girizina Christella, Shimwa Marie Faustine, Monique Uwinkesha and Aline Niyonsaba. 

They are scheduled to depart for Norway on July 31.
