Creators of innovative digital solutions have a chance to up their game, thanks to new opportunities presented by the new initiative at Tigo’s technology incubation centre in Kacyiru, Kigali.

According to a statement from the telecom firm, interested innovators can now apply to enroll at the Rwf670m technology incubation facility to sharpen their skills.

"After selection, the lucky entrepreneurs will undergo a six-month programme designed to enhance their skills and competences in product marketing,” it added in the statement.

The firm said it would also give five of the applicants seed financing, structured training and coaching programmes, as well as access to its technical resources for product testing and trials and support in accessing outside investors and customers.

"We are calling on technology entrepreneurs with solid ideas for digital innovation for Africa. Tigo is looking forward to investing in their skills and ingenuity,” said Tongai Maramba, the Tigo Rwanda general manager in the statement.

Minister for Youth and ICT, Jean Philbert Nsengimana, said the initiative will greatly boost government’s efforts to make Rwanda a hub for technology innovations.

"We cannot wait to see the next Africa startups bourgeoning from the country.”
