Editor,

Refer to the article, "Virgin tourism potential hidden in Rwandan rich heritage” (Sunday Times, July 20). The author, Mr David Nkusi, is right. Rwanda is a jewel of Africa and a country full of masterpieces hidden from spoiling. It is absolutely necessary to open these secrets to the world, starting by Africa, although it needs to be well controlled to avoid spoiling.

I am a privileged in discovering some of these masterpieces by my own, just guessing where to go.

The cultural heritage is the great value. Forget those volatile lodges or resorts made at Europe’s lifestyle standards.

Rwanda’s gastronomy, dance, farming, tea and culture are among added values of cultural heritage, also the kindness and politeness of the people of Rwanda.

I like the piece and hope that Amb. Amina Kalitanyi (Head of Tourism at the Rwanda Development Board) will encourage all tour operators to read this article.

Can the head of tour operators tell Rwandan public of their strategy as far as the issues raised in this article are concerned?
