Rwanda’s Grace Niyigena and Delphine Uwicyeza travelled to Cyprus yesterday to take part in the U21 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships.
The 14th annual event will be held from July 23 to 27 in the city of Larnaka. Niyigena and Uwicyeza are under the tutelage of former national team player, Damascene Ndagijimana.
The Rwanda Volleyball Federation’s Secretary General Christian Hatumimana said that the team is ready for the tournament and they have been given everything to represent the country well.
"They have been holding preparations and their response is very positive. We believe they will always do everything possible in their capacity to stage a fine performance,” said Hatumimana.
A total of 72 teams (36 teams of men and 36 of women) will participate in the Championship with athletes coming from all continents.
