THE RWANDA National Police Handball club has moved closer to lifting the national league trophy after beating Rubavu-based Groupe Scolaire Rambura 39-29 in a match played over the weekend at the latter’s campus.

With Gilbert Mutuyimana’s 14-highest individual score, the win put the law enforcers in the lead with 33 maximum points, 12 ahead of the second placed and reigning champions, Gicumbi.

With just five matches left to the close of the league, Police Handball club needs only two wins to lift the league title for the third time in just four seasons and the fourth trophy this year after lifting the Labour Day, Genocide Memorial and Liberation championships titles.

"I am happy with the performance and I have faith in the team; we want to win it in style...without losing a match and that’s what the team is striving for,” Police Coach AIP Antoine Ntabanganyimana said.
