IPRC-KICUKIRO Basketball Club concluded their maiden season in the national league on a positive note after registering a 97-52 win over Gisenyi BBC on Sunday at Kigali Institute of Sciences and Technology (KIST) courts.

Winning their last league match helped Kicukiro-based Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centre (IPRC) finish the league in the sixth position with 31 points, having won eleven and lost nine matches respectively though their main target was to finish in the top four.

IPRC-Kicukiro’s Steve Havugintwari scored the game high of 27 points while his teammates Dieudonne Ndizeye and Abdallahtif Nsengiyumva contributed 19 and 16 points to the big win respectively.

"We were targeting play-offs but the mission failed. However it’s not bad as we are featuring in the league for the first time. I’m confident we will do better in the next season,” IPRC-Kicukiro head coach Albert Buhake told Times Sport after the huge win yesterday.

In another league match played on Sunday, Rusizi snatched a narrow 90-86 win over United Generation Basketball Club (UGB).

UGB are currently fourth-placed with 32 points, one ahead of Rusizi who are facing champions Espoir in the last league match on July 26 at Amahoro stadium.

A win for Rusizi will grant them a slot in the play-off while a defeat will see UGB advancing to the play-offs round.

Champions Espoir are top with 38 points, Cercle Sportif de Kigali (CSK) lie second with 35 while former champions APR BBC are second-runners up with one point adrift.
