FOLLOWING THE unveiling of new head coach Andre Cassa Mbungo, Police FC has released nine players as they gear up for next month’s Cecafa Kagame Cup.
According to the club’s Spokesperson, CIP Jean de Dieu Mayira, the nine players include assistant coach player Djabir Mutarambirwa, goal keeping duo of Alex Ganza and Jean Paul Mutabazi, defenders Aphrodis Mungurareba, Pacifique Mugwaneza, Donatien ‘Jojoli’ Tuyizere, midfielders Eric Muhanuka, Deny Kamanzi and Amani Uwirigimana.
"In bid to build a strong team, we released players whose performance was below par in last season’s league. After assessing their performance, we found it wise to release them,”
This year’s Peace Cup finalists have completed signing of experienced goalkeeper Emery Mvuyekure, striker Jimmy Mbaraga and left back Mwemere Ngirinshuti, all on two-year contract deals.
The team will take part in next month’s Cecafa Kagame Cup where Police is placed in Group C alongside defending champions Vital’O of Burundi, Sudan’s El Merreikh and Benadir of Somalia.
