PREPARATIONS for the fourth edition of KigaliUp Music festival are in high gear with this year’s event slated to take place from July 19 to 20 at Stade Amahoro.
The festival is one of the popular music events in Rwanda and usually attracts international artistes from all over the world.
Now, in its third year, Kigali Up has established itself as the ultimate destination to experience the best in culture, music and arts.
It is the first national music festival in Rwanda that promotes its own artistes, artisans and businesses.
Apart from a variety of music ranging from Hip-hop, Afro beat, Blues, Rumba, Funk and Reggae, this year’s festival will also boast of two live stages, a family zone, a beer garden, and lots of food as well as arts and crafts stalls.
According to one of the organisers, Mighty Popo, he said this year’s festival is different from the previous ones because many things have changed. "We are working hard to ensure that the festival goes as planned, and give our fans the best. The sound, staging and every thing is programmed,” he said.
He added that all performances will be live with an aim of focusing mainly on improving and empowering artistes through workshops and culture exchange.
International stars expected to perform include Didier Awadi (Senegal), Joey Blake and Rhonda Benin (USA).
Local stars that will perform include Mighty Popo, Jay Polly, Ikobe, Gaby, Jay Polly, Inganzo Ingari, Mani Martin and Paccy among others.
