SIXTEEN TEAMS in the boys’ and girls’ categories have reached the quarter final stage of the Airtel Rising Stars U17 grassroots tournament. 

The sixteen teams that advanced in the regional knockouts will now compete in the quarterfinals to be held in Kigali next weekend. 

The boys’ quarter final will be played on Saturday this week while the girls will take to action the following day. 

The teams comprise of eight boys’ teams and eight girls’ teams with each region in the country being represented by four teams, two for the boys and two for the girls. 

In the boys’ category, the Northern Province will be represented by Rubavu FC and Bigogwe while the Southern Province will be represented by Umurabyo FC and Rusizi United. 

The Eastern Province will be represented by Gatsibo Academy and Kayonza Football Training Centre whereas Kigali City will face Play for Hope and Top guys. 

In the girl’s category, the Northern Province will be represented by Nyakiriba FC and Rwa 155 while the Eastern province will be represented by Kayonza FC and Abarashi Academy. 

The Southern province will be represented by Mutara Ruhango and Nyanza. 

Feminine and Kigali will be represented by AS Kigali and Young for Hope.  Draws for the semifinals will be conducted on Friday this week.
